AEMpower

Research and Development of a 100 kW AEM Electrolysis Module.

Años de ejecución:

2024-2027

Elementos de interés:

Green H2

To research and develop proprietary technology for the construction and validation of a highpower anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolysis module. This type of electrolyzer can be powered by renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen at a reduced cost compared to other electrolysis technologies.

Descripción del proyecto:

The main objective of the AEMPOWER project is to research, design, and experimentally as well as technoeconomically validate a new compact AEM water electrolysis module, conceived as a basic, reproducible, and scalable unit for green hydrogen production plants in size.
To achieve this goal, the project is structured around the following four intermediate objectives:
Research and implementation of the primary cell of the target module, aiming to reach an active area using catalysts with minimal content of critical raw materials (CRMs), high hydrogen production efficiency in terms of operational and structural costs, and a targeted stability of approximately 2,000 hours.
Scaling of the developed cell into stacks, duplicating and assembling the cells to achieve power levels ranging at this TRL.
Design, implementation, and validation of a module as a basic and scalable unit for future green hydrogen production plants.
Technoeconomic analysis of the process, based on experimental data obtained from characterization and validation tests, as well as results from higherscale process simulations. This analysis will provide relevant OPEX and CAPEX estimates for subsequent scaling stages.
