The Proprietary Technologies Development Division (DDTP) has developed a technology for direct leaching of metal sulfides at atmospheric pressure that allows for high metal recoveries under soft conditions and short reaction times.
The DATMOSTM technology allows the recovery of zinc directly from metallic sulphides without the need to go through the roasting stage and without the limitation of having to use high grade metallic zinc concentrates.
Under the standard reaction conditions of the DATMOSTM technology it is also possible to put into solution other metals present in the ore or polymetallic concentrate, although to estimate the leaching efficiencies it is necessary to experimentally study the behavior of the material.
The DATMOSTM technology consists of the following units
Zinc sulfide is dissolved under mild acidic conditions using O2 as an oxidant and the acid solution produced in the direct leaching stage II.
DIRECT LEACHING II:
The solid resulting from the previous stage is subjected to a treatment using a mixture of O2 and SO2 that produces more oxidizing reaction conditions achieving the dissolution of zinc sulfide effectively.
The produced zinc sulphide solution has optimal conditions to enter the purification stage by solvent extraction of the ZINCEXTM technology
